New brochure on the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights

The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights is mandated with the protection and promotion of human and peoples’ rights in Africa.

The Commission acts as a quasi-judicial body, reviewing complaints lodged by states, individuals or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) regarding violations of the African Charter. Individuals and NGOs can file complaints to the Commission alleging violations of the African Charter by a State. However, the argument can be made that the State has not provided sufficient protection against human rights or environmental violations by a company.
